Our Mission to Keep Fleming Park Clean
Because of its status as a community staple, we want to keep Fleming Park clean and beautiful. The city was forced to reduce the park's maintenance expenses, which resulted in our neighborhood, and surrounding areas, to come together to support the park. We formed The Friends of Fleming Park as a non-profit organization in an effort to provide the park with the upkeep it needs.
For more than 39 years, we have been operating on a voluntary basis, relying on donations from the community to continue preserving the park. Our organization holds a Halloween party every year, and a watermark party every May. We aim to maintain the original feel of the park and its equipment.
Additionally, we are partnered with Southampton Civic Club and work with Friends of the Esplanade, who assist us with the upkeep. Southampton plants a wide variety of flowers, including some that are indigenous to Texas. Together, we take care of the live oak trees to keep them healthy and ensure the safety of children that might play around them. We also empty the trash every week and keep park benches and tables clean.
